UTICA, NY – CNY Drones will host an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and MultiGP Drone Racing Chapter Tech Meet on Friday, February 1, 2019, 7:00pm to 10:00pm, in the Jewish Community Center Auditorium, 2310 Oneida Street in Utica, NY.  The event goal is to grow interest in indoor and outdoor recreational drone use as well as other CNY Drones events that spark interest in STEM – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.  “The meet allows drone owners to socialize, share build knowledge, pass along flying tips, test drones in a controlled space and race indoor drones,” according to CNY Drones Safety Officer, John Reade. “Our events assist those starting out and help keep the recreational drone community connected.”

CNY Drones program volunteers are AMA & MultiGP members who promote safe flying practices and STEM. Attendees can view a variety of remote controlled vehicles from small, palm-sized, indoor drones and hover-craft to larger scale projects for use in the 2019 FOREST FURY Team Drone Challenge.  This is the second year the Jewish Community Center has offered space for CNY Drones programs. There is a suggested $5 donation at the door.  Event is open to ages 11+.

CNY Drones is a community-based organization that provides STEM programs as an AMA Model Aviation Student Club. Low-cost interactive exhibits, flying sessions, workshops, tech meets, and MultiGP drone races feed into their Annual Team Drone Challenge.

CNY Drones exists fiscally under the Griffiss Institute, a 501c3 and relies on annual donations to maintain their equipment and information hub.  For information on CNY Drones visit https://www.cnydrones.org/  or email: CNYDrones@gmail.com
