Dine & Development: The Shifting Landscape of DoD SBIR/STTR Program Opportunities

ROME, NY — The Griffiss Institute and the Cyber Research Institute, together, present a Dine & Development Training Series Workshop: The Shifting Landscape of DoD SBIR/STTR Program Opportunities, on Friday, May 10, 2019, 2:00 – 4:00 pm, at Griffiss Institute, 725 Daedalian Drive, Rome, NY.

This presentation is free to attend, with coffee and light refreshments to be served. Interested parties are asked to register by 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, at www.griffissinstitute.org/dineanddevelopment.

The Dine & Development Training Series is a collaborative effort, bringing together local businesses, Air Force Research Laboratory researchers, and academia to expose and inform the Central NY business and research community on technology-driven topics of common interest, and to also promote business development by providing networking opportunities among researchers and attendees.

Who Should Attend?

Small business professionals, researchers, and entrepreneurs interested in learning about small business opportunities and the SBIR/STTR program, how the AFRL SBIR program is evolving, and how to obtain more information.

What’s It All About?

Mr. Abbe will discuss his personal experience as an entrepreneur working through the Federal Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program and describe a new pilot “Pitch Day” process for special research topics, intended to accelerate technologies to the warfighter. Following Mr. Abbe’s presentation, we’ll hold a moderated discussion session with our panel of experts on how the Air Force SBIR program is evolving and take questions from the audience on the SBIR/STTR program.

Mr. Brian Abbe

Following a career in the private sector, Brian joined AFRL in 2013 where he worked as a Branch Chief and the Head of the Technology Transfer Group. In 2017, Brian entered the EOP program and licensed technology from AFRL/RI to form a Cyber Security business.  Since leaving AFRL, Brian’s new company, Mentis Technologies, has been awarded two Phase I SBIRs. Mr. Abbe also works as a Principal Engineer for the Griffiss Institute.
