RI Intern
Launch Your Research Career with an AFRL Internship
Looking for a summer experience that goes beyond a typical internship? The RI Intern Summer Internship Program offers collegiate students the opportunity to work directly with scientists and engineers at the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate, contributing to research that supports national security and emerging technologies.
This is your chance to apply what you have learned in the classroom to real-world challenges and gain experience that sets you apart for graduate school or the workforce.
Why Choose the RI Intern Program:
Do Meaningful Paid Research:
RI Interns are paid to work on active research projects, not administrative tasks. Your work will directly support cutting-edge scientific and engineering efforts.
Explore Advanced Technologies:
Interns contribute to research in areas such as:
- Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Quantum Information Sciences
- Neuromorphic Computing
- Trusted Software and Emerging Technologies
Work Alongside Experts:
Interns will collaborate with AFRL researchers and mentors who are leading in their fields, gaining hands-on technical experience and professional guidance.
Build a Strong Professional Foundation:
This program helps you develop practical skills, expand your professional network, and better understand careers in research, defense, and national security.
Travel and Housing Support Available:
Students living more than 50 miles from Rome, New York, may be eligible for travel and housing assistance, helping make participation accessible.
