Griffiss Institute Announces Launch of STEM Discovery Camp at Delta Lake
ROME, NY – June 16, 2025 – The Griffiss Institute is proud to present the launch of STEM Discovery Camp, a six-day, overnight educational experience set to take place Sunday, August 17 through Friday, August 22 at the scenic Delta Lake Conference Center. This immersive camp is open to students entering 9th through 12th grade this fall and is designed to spark scientific curiosity, foster new friendships, and provide a safe, structured environment for academic and personal growth.
At a time when parents are looking for both meaningful enrichment and peace of mind, STEM Discovery Camp delivers. Campers will explore a dynamic curriculum across earth and space science, forensics, biology, chemistry, physics, and more, led by certified instructors and supported by trained peer mentors.
“Parents want more for their kids than just a fun week away; they want a transformative experience that is safe, enriching, and valuable,” said Griffiss Institute’s Chief Talent Officer, Todd Humiston. “This camp offers just that: hands-on STEM learning, nature immersion, and a safe place for teens to unplug and connect with others who share their interests.”
Safety remains a top priority. Campers are fully supervised day and night, and the program requires full participation for all six days, including overnight stays ensuring consistency, structure, and the full benefit of the experience.
Key Features of the STEM Discovery Camp:
• A full six-day, five-night residential experience
• Hands-on STEM labs and fieldwork in a natural lakeside setting
• 24/7 staff and mentor supervision ensuring camper safety and well-being
• Opportunities for social growth, leadership, and team-based exploration
• All-inclusive cost: $1,500* ($250/day)
“STEM Discovery Camp is about more than science—it’s about building confidence, curiosity, and connection in the next generation,” said Heather Hage, President and CEO of the Griffiss Institute. “By combining high-impact scientific exploration with the adventure of an overnight camp, we’re giving students an unforgettable experience that prepares them to lead and grow in tomorrow’s technology-driven world while embracing the beauty of the Mohawk Valley.”
