Experience PASSPORT in Action: Student Showcase and Open House

ROME, N.Y., June 16, 2026 — From bubbling reactions and engineering challenges to creative problem-solving and hands-on discovery, PASSPORT after-school STEM students have spent the year exploring the world around them. 

On June 25, families and community members are invited to see the results firsthand during the PASSPORT Open House hosted by Griffiss Institute at Innovare Advancement Center. PASSPORT is a STEM enrichment experience for students in grades 2 through 6, hosted in Rome, N.Y. 

The open house follows the PASSPORT graduation celebration, where students and their families will gather to recognize the accomplishments of the 2025–26 participants. Following the ceremony, the public is invited to explore student exhibits, meet instructors, and experience firsthand the engaging activities that make PASSPORT a unique learning opportunity for young innovators. 

Throughout the event, guests will have the chance to view student showcases featuring favorite experiments and projects completed during the school year, participate in interactive hands-on activities, and speak directly with the educators who guide students through the process. Guests may also hear from current students as they share their experiences and reflect on the discoveries, friendships, and skills they developed through PASSPORT. 

“PASSPORT is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence through experiential learning,” said Clarissa Emma Cressotti, STEM education and outreach specialist at Griffiss Institute. “One of the most rewarding moments this year was watching a student step outside of their comfort zone and confidently present their work to others. Experiences like that demonstrate how STEM education can help students build not only technical skills, but also confidence, communication, and a willingness to take on new challenges. This Open House gives families an opportunity to see growth through the eyes of our students while exploring opportunities for the upcoming school year.” 

The event is designed for families interested in learning more about PASSPORT and how this curriculum encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and STEM exploration in a supportive and engaging environment. 

Families considering enrollment for the 2026–27 school year will have the space to learn more about PASSPORT offerings, ask questions, and connect with current students and instructors. Families who enroll in PASSPORT during the Open House will receive an exclusive 5% same-day enrollment discount, while families who pay in full at the time of registration will receive an additional 5% discount on tuition.
