Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA)

As a partnership intermediary, Griffiss Institute, will provide small businesses and educational institutions based in the US with technical assistance aimed at helping them identify appropriate Air Force Research Laboratory, Information Directorate (AFRL/RI)  technologies for licensing and commercialization as well as identify new technologies in the private sector that AFRL/RI can utilize and transfer to operational use.

Griffiss Institute will also facilitate joint research and development projects between AFRL/RI and private companies and between agencies and educational institutions. The PIA will assist entrepreneurs in the start-up of new companies to aid in the commercialization of AFRL/RI technologies.

Through this PIA, US companies have the potential to benefit from AFRL/RI technological resources and to match their needs against DOD capabilities in many high technology areas.

Under the PIA the Griffiss Institute has subject matter experts (SMEs) to work within the technical divisions of the AFRL/IR.  The SMEs will assist in identifying potential Technology  Transfer  (T2)  opportunities and collaborations.

Under the current PIA, the Griffiss Institute has 2 tasks; the first is for Technology Transfer and the second is to support AFRL/RI's STEM outreach program.
